Your relationship with your child’s school should be a positive one. Sometimes, though, families and educators disagree about the best ways to support and educate a child. When this happens, families can become overwhelmed, feel lost and not know what to do to support your child and make the best decisions for now and the future. Spectrum’s Educational Consultants can help.
Our Educational Consultants will work with you to determine what the barriers are between you and your school and help you reach across those barriers to build a bridge of understanding and support focused on your child. Our goal is to work collaboratively with you and your child’s school to build a support and educational program that meets the learning needs of your child.
Spectrum’s Educational Consultants have years of experience in the public education system and working privately with families to support therapeutic needs that are unmet by the schools. We understand the demands on families and schools so are well-equipped to see the bigger picture.
Our approach is one of support, collaboration and a focus on the student’s needs and how they can best be met for optimal educational outcomes. Educational Consultation support can include observation of the student at school, conference with school staff, discussion with family, ARD attendance, recommendation report or other services as determined in initial consult.
Families requesting Educational Consultation will need to complete our “Consent to Communicate” form before we can discuss your child’s needs with anyone besides you.
For Spectrum staff to observe your child at school, parents will need to request this on their campus. We can recommend how to make this request in the initial consultation and here is a sample letter that you can download, personalize, and use.
